Bates Masi Architects created this modern, contemporary riverfront home in Noyack, NY, bringing new, natural luxury to the term “casual.” Designed for an actor with rest and relaxation in mind, this home plan “became a study in architectural theatre: a series of spaces in a carefully scripted sequence that subtly reflect his professional life,” explains the architect. A simple, modern facade makes way for gorgeous, light-filled interiors. Expansive windows boast views of the riverfront and gardens, and are covered by perforated privacy screens which slide opened or closed. The architect had some great loft design ideas, with a main living area overlooked by upstairs living spaces. Note the cool wood floor planks, which change direction to demarcate the kitchen, living and dining areas of this open concept house plan. A bold staircase along a glass wall leads up to the second floor, where a master bedroom is connected to the ensuite via a bridge overlooking the downstairs living spaces. Bates Masi Architects.
