It’s not the first time that someone has been inspired by the skeleton of an animal to develop a ladder. This time it is the backbone of a whale, and that’s why it’s called the Vertebrae spiral staircase.
The key to this design is in the pieces, shaping each vertebra, which is composed of several layers of resilient material. They are reinforced by steel pins, so that they shape the outlines of the ladder. The first and last vertebra are slightly modified to connect each floor without any further support, and the composition is designed to both impress and utilize the most practical use for two-storey houses.
