The capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh will have a metro station look with the impressive facades which are typical of Zaha Hadid’s architecture. The famous architect has won the competition for the improvement of the infrastructure in one of the key points in the city, the King Abdullah Financial District. The building functions as a public transportation hub between the metro line 1, line 4 (connected to the airport), and line 6. It will have six platforms, two of which are designated for underground parking areas.
The design shifts the focus from a station with a network of roads and elevated highways to a more elaborated development plan. All pedestrian areas are present in the interior of the building. It is well lit thanks to the large facades. The building will be completed within four years.
